A tour of history, flavours and sea.
We set off from the ‘pearl of the Tyrrhenian’: Tropea.
The city is a true panoramic viewpoint, created on a rock which overlooks the sea. In front lies another “rock”, on which the stunning Santa Maria dell’Isola is situated and which definitely merits a visit, before allowing yourself to wander off among the narrow alleys of the historical centre in search of a local restaurant where you can sample the delicious dishes based on Tropea red onions.
We then continue along the Capo Vaticano, where you will have the option to dive into the turquoise sea and go for a scenic stroll to look down on the awe-inspiring “Praia di Fuoco”, one of the most sought-after bays of the Capo Vaticano – before heading off to Pizzo.
After the beautiful seaside, we will focus more on the historical side of the itinerary with a visit to Pizzo and its famous Aragonese castle where the king of Naples, Joachim Murat. You will have time to sample the famous locally-made “chocolate truffle” ice-cream from Pizzo. On the way to the village we will have a brief stop to visit the tiny Piedigrotta Church, entirely carved from the rock.
