A completely Calabrian itinerary, to discover the beauty of a unique area which is rich is history, traditions, culture and nature.
First stop on the Reggio Calabria day. We will visit the Cathedral, which was rebuilt after the earthquake at the start of last century, in a neo-Roman style. After the visit we recommend you take a walk to admire “the most beautiful kilometre of Italy”, which is the seaside promenade of Reggio, the jewel in the crown of the city.
Reggio’s surprises don’t end there: after free time for lunch, we will visit the archaeological museum which holds many artefacts from the Magna Graecia era, in particular the famous Riace bronzes.
Once we have left the museum we will visit one of the highlights of the Costa Viola: Scilla. A charming town of myths and mysteries. It sits on a promontory which descends to the sea. From high it is possible to see the unique viewpoint of the shimmering sea and the profile of Sicily in the background.
We recommend that you take a wander around the typical fishing village, Chianalea, which is the historical quarter of the city, and has many atmospheric areas and beautiful sea views. Straight across from Chianalea, don’t miss the Marina Grande with its promenade walk and the stunning beach which opens out on the Strait of Messina.
